Ranger Ed Weaver is retired from the U.S. Navy where he traveled the world over in his profession as a Deep Sea Diver. After retiring to SW Florida he completed the State of Florida Ranger Academy and went to work for Lee County Parks & Recreation. As an urban Ranger he patrolled all parks in Lee County and developed various wildlife programs which he presented to local schools, scout troops and the general public. In 2005 it was determined that Conservation 20/20 needed full time Rangers to patrol preserves due to vandalism and unauthorized use. Ranger Weaver was selected for transfer due to his interest and knowledge of wildlife and local eco-systems.
He patrols all preserves by vehicle, ATV, and on foot where he enforces county ordnances, makes repairs to fences, and inspects sites for illegal use.
Ranger Weaver has a law enforcement background, is a certified ATV Instructor with the ATV Safety Institute (ASI) and is a trainer for Tread Lightly that teaches ethical and responsible outdoor recreation. |
