Yellow Fever Creek Preserve

Yellow Fever Creek Preserve (YFCP) is located in northern Lee County and northeast Cape Coral, within Sections 20, 28, 29 and 30 of Township 43 South, Range 24 East (Figure 3). The Park is bordered by Del Prado Boulevard on the west and north sides. On the south and east sides the property borders a LCEC transmission easement and single family residential communities. The eastern parcel is east of and contiguous to the proposed northern extension of NE 24th Avenue.

 

A housing community is currently under development to the east of the Park along Del Prado. The future site for the Academic Village, a planned development for educational and recreational facilities, is opposite Del Prado Boulevard to the southwest of the Park. Most of the surrounding lands are proposed for intensive urban development.

The Preserve consists of forested uplands, pine flatwoods and freshwater herbaceous wetlands. Melaleuca and other invasive plants are found in many areas throughout the Park. Portions of the headwaters of Yellow Fever Creek are found on the property.

Restoration Activites: Currently there are no restoration activties occuring at this site.
