| History | |||
The access to Estero Island used to be via an old swing bridge, until it out lived it's usefulness in the late 1970's, but it was a very popular fishing spot. When it was replaced with the current "Sky Bridge" or high arch, fishing from it went away. However, incorporated into this new design were two short piers on each side under the bridge approaches. Lee County maintains and operates the one located on San Carlos Island and the Town of Ft. Myers Beach the other one located on Estero Island. |
