Roseate Spoonbills

Roseate spoonbills are beautiful birds that live primarily on the Gulf Coast from east Texas to the southern parts of Florida.

Spoonbills feed in a unique way: they swing their spoon-shaped bills from side to side in shallow water and snap it shut when shrimp, small fish or insects enter.

Spoonbills prefer salt water, but can tolerate the fresh water of the Slough.
