Tricolored Heron
|
This tricolored heron is in its breeding plumage. Notice the long plumes coming from its head, back and tail. Tricolored herons resemble little blue herons, but the tricolored heron has a white stripe on its neck and acts quite differently than the little blue. When hunting for fish, the tricolored heron strides quickly through the water to scare its prey in a particular direction, then makes its attack! |
