Wood Stork

This bird has many nicknames, such as "Ironhead" and "Flinthead" because of its scaly, featherless head, and "Preacherbird" because of its solemn and dignified manner.

The wood stork is an endangered species because of habitat loss. It is the only kind of stork that lives in Florida.

Wood storks use their beaks to feel for food by keeping their heads down and beaks open in the water. Then, they either wait for fish to swim into their mouths or use their feet to guide them there.
