| Because of their bright coloration, lubber grasshoppers are not very hard to spot at the Slough. When they are young, lubbers are dark with a light stripe down their backs. After molting several times throughout their lives, lubbers achieve their bright color that serves as a warning signal to predators that they are inedible. | |
