Lee County Parks and Recreation offers a $5 discount for registering at least two weeks before a session! These camps offer a full day of excitement Traditional camps are the camps you remember when you went to day camp. The camps are for children ages 6 to13 (on or before Sept. 1). Lakes Parks Camp Tahini Hatchee offers a strong outdoor focus. Contact your local camp for a more detailed look into their summer planning.
Traditional Camp Schedule
Day camp activities including arts and crafts, sports, organized games, quiet play, educational speakers, water activities, outdoor activities and occasional field trips scheduled Monday through Friday. While the camp day begins as early as 7:30 am and ends at 6:00 pm, the bulk of the structured programming is between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This gives the parents some leeway in drop off/pick up times so their child does not miss an exciting activity.
These camps fall outside the standard camp ages and/or offer a specific unique focus. Each specialty camp is an in-depth week on a particular concentration. Specialty camps are for those youth who have a true passion for the topic at hand. Please note that specialty camps are a more condensed day then traditional camps. Specialty camps are offered at Boca Grande, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, Manatee Park, Caloosahatchee Regional, and various swimming pools.
There is no need for your teen to be bored all summer. The Teen Camps offer a variety of weekly themes in order to provide the teens with a focus on a particular topic. Activities will be tied to the theme and will include indoors and outdoors activities, games, adventures, swimming, field trips and more. Teen camps are for youth ages 12-16. Please refer to the theme descriptions and individual campsite grids in our Summer Camp/Summer Aquatics brochure for specific week information.
Special Needs Camps
These camps are designed for participants with special physical and/or developmental delays. All potential special needs camp participants must first complete an assessment by our Special Needs department in order to register.
Campers with varying disabilities have the opportunity to register in our various community summer camp programs, but the campers parent/guardian must have completed an assessment and work with the inclusion team during the registration process to ensure the camper can have a successful and enjoyable summer camp experience. Contact Terri Farrell, our Special Needs Senior Supervisor, for an initial assessment at 239-267-2181.
Caring, Trained Counselors
To ensure your child’s safest experience possible, each carefully chosen camp counselor has passed a background check and has undergone training in CPR/First Aid, Behavior management, Health and Safety, and Camp Standards. They’ll take the time to listen and help build your child’s self-esteem and self-confidence.
